FILL ME UP
SPIRITUAL EMPTINESS
One of the most disheartening states for a child of God is the moment they feel spiritual emptiness. It’s one of those things that no one expects to experience; yet, it shows up in all of our lives. If we’re honest, we’ve all felt it. Some of us may be feeling it at this very moment. You know the feeling. You go through the motions of everyday life but you feel hollow, weighed down by every attempt you make to move forward. Things that brought you excitement and happiness in the past, no longer have the same effect. The joy you once had for the Lord seems to have disappeared. You’re going to church, doing good deeds, helping others…yet emptiness fills the shadows of each moment stealing your serenity. Many nights you cry yourself to sleep, only to start the next day by putting on an emotional mask. Your heart and spirit are crying out silently for help and fulfillment; yet, you can’t seem to get the help you so desperately need. I know it’s not a good feeling; however, I’m here to tell you there is hope!
ALL POURED OUT
Life gets tough sometimes…really tough. And if we’re honest with ourselves, life has a way of literally “DRAINING THE LIFE OUT OF US!” We can become so used to pouring into our children, pouring into our spouses, pouring into our friends, pouring into people on our jobs, that we neglect the fact that we need to be poured into ourselves. I am here to tell you that God so desperately wants to pour Himself into YOU. Even in the midst of spiritual emptiness, I want you to remember that God still loves you. God yearns for you to desire to be filled by Him again. Spiritual emptiness is a sign that you are spiritually ill and in need of GOD’S HEALING and of GOD’S FILLING. Does spiritual emptiness mean you don’t love God? Absolutely not. Does it mean God can’t still use you? Absolutely not! It just means you need to reconnect with your source of true fulfillment…which is God Himself.
SELF REFLECTION
If you’re feeling this way, I want you to ask yourself these questions. “When is the last time I studied my word? When is the last time I prayed? Have I spent time at the feet of Jesus lately? Do I make quiet time for me and the Lord? Is my relationship with God one of priority or one of convenience? Have I sought to develop true intimacy with the Lord or just a superficial relationship? Do I make studying my Word and spending time with the Lord first priority over anything or anyone in my life? Have the tasks of my everyday life become my focus?”
FILL ME UP GOD
I’m not sure what your answers are to these questions, but the answers are not for me to know. It’s simply for you and the Lord to know. I just want you to see that consistently filling yourself, your spirit, and your heart with the Lord and His Word is imperative for your well-being. It is what gives you spiritual life and sustenance! Being apart from God and His Word, you will continue to be spiritually empty, unfulfilled, and without peace. So, if your spiritual tank is on E, choose on this day and at this very moment to allow the Lord and His Word to FILL YOU UP! Even if you have to take some time to step away from everyone and everything…DO IT! Cry out to the Lord, spend time with the Lord, and worship the Lord. Allow His Word to fill the hollow and empty spaces within your heart. Allow His Word to replenish every well in your life that has run dry. LET HIM FILL YOU UP!
REMEMBER:
NEVER cease to drink from the living water…the Word of the Lord. Hydrate! Hydrate! Money, cars, earthly relationships, successful careers, kids, a husband, a wife…will not and cannot fulfill you like God and His Word. You were created for the Lord. As a result, there is nothing or no one that has the ability to fulfill you other than Him. God is better than anything. Nothing will EVER satisfy you more than God and His Word…NOTHING. Continue to drink up and allow the Lord to fill your cup. He will FILL IT ALL THE WAY UP!
